Minimizing the impact of a crisis that may occur is another line of defence within an organization. Creating strategies to minimize the likelihood that an event will affect an organization will not prevent the incident from taking place. No degree of preparation can stop crises or other massively destructive events but understanding that every incident is not preventable is our other strategy to minimize the impact. That's where Business Continuity Management (BCM) comes in. It is an essential control from a legislative point of view where the process will allow a greater understanding of the threats and vulnerabilities within the organization's critical activities and supporting resources.

BCM aims at reducing the effect upon the organization after an event occurs and restore the organization to its normal operations and delivery of services as quickly & safely as possible. In short, BCM helps maintain the viability of an organization under duress.
